Description

These stuffed pizza rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack featuring pizza dough filled with a flavorful combination of mozzarella, Parmesan, pepperoni or sausage, bell peppers, and olives. Baked to golden perfection and served warm with marinara sauce, they are perfect for parties or quick bites.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough and Sauce

  • 1 package (1 lb) pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Cheese and Meats

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or cooked sausage

Vegetables and Seasonings

  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Finishing Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the pizza rolls.
  2. Prepare Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle approximately 12 by 10 inches.
  3. Add Sauce: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around all edges to prevent overflow during baking.
  4. Add Toppings: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, pepperoni or cooked sausage, chopped bell peppers, sliced black olives, dried oregano, and garlic powder evenly over the sauce layer.
  5. Roll Dough: Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, making sure to enclose all the fillings.
  6. Seal Edges: Pinch the seams and the ends of the roll firmly to seal and prevent fillings from leaking out.
  7. Slice Rolls: Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled log into 1 to 2 inch thick pieces to form individual rolls.
  8. Prepare for Baking: Place the rolls cut-side up on a greased baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced slightly apart.
  9. Brush with Oil: Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil for a golden, crispy finish.
  10. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted.
  11. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm with optional marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Customize the fillings by adding mushrooms, cooked bacon, or spinach to suit your taste.
  • For a crispier exterior, brush the tops with melted butter instead of olive oil before baking.
  • These pizza rolls can be prepared ahead of time and reheated in the oven when ready to serve.
