Description

Delicious and vibrant Spicy Shrimp Tacos with fresh Mango Salsa, perfect for a quick and healthy meal that combines tender, seasoned shrimp with a sweet and tangy salsa, served on warm tortillas.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Tacos

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Mango Salsa

  • 1 ripe mango, diced
  • 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the peeled and deveined shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Mango Salsa: In a separate bowl, combine diced mango, finely chopped red onion, diced red bell pepper, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to blend flavors.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: Heat the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds per side or warm them in the microwave until pliable.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Lay tortillas on a plate and layer each with shredded red cabbage, cooked shrimp, and a generous spoonful of mango salsa. Garnish with extra fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing.

Notes

  • You can substitute shrimp with chicken or fish if desired.
  • For a creamier taco, add a drizzle of sour cream or a yogurt-based sauce.
  • Adjust the spice level by reducing or omitting the cayenne pepper.
  • Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free version.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh crunch of the cabbage and bright salsa flavors.
