- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Pie Crust
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the pie.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and all-purpose flour, stirring until well mixed.
- Add Butter: Stir in the melted unsalted butter until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Incorporate Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition to ensure a smooth batter.
- Add Flavorings: Add the buttermilk, vanilla extract, and lemon juice to the bowl, stirring until all ingredients are completely combined into a creamy filling.
- Fill Pie Crust: Pour the prepared filling into the unbaked 9-inch pie crust and spread it evenly across the surface.
- Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into 8 pieces and serving.
Notes
- Make sure the pie is completely cooled before slicing to allow the filling to set properly.
- If the edges of the pie crust brown too quickly, cover them with foil halfway through baking to prevent burning.
- Use fresh buttermilk for the best tangy flavor and texture.
- You can add a dollop of whipped cream on top when serving for extra richness.
