Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 cup large semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 2 large apples
Toppings and Drizzles
- Caramel, for drizzling (about 1/4 cup)
- Melted white chocolate, for drizzling (about 1/4 cup)
- Crushed Oreos, for topping (optional, 1/4 cup)
- Crushed pretzels, for topping (optional, 1/4 cup)
- Rainbow sprinkles, for topping (optional, 2 tablespoons)
- M&M’s, for topping (optional, 1/4 cup)
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate: Bring a saucepan of water to a simmer and set a glass bowl on top, ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil to the bowl and stir gently until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
- Slice Apples and Insert Sticks: Place the apples upright on a cutting board and slice each into 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick rounds. Using a paring knife, make a small slit at the bottom of each apple slice and insert a popsicle stick securely to create the “pop.”
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with wax paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray to prevent sticking when placing the dipped apples.
- Dip and Chill: Dip each apple slice into the melted chocolate, fully coating one side. Place the dipped slices on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for 8 to 10 minutes or until the chocolate sets firmly.
- Decorate and Final Chill: Drizzle the solidified chocolate-covered apple slices with caramel and melted white chocolate. Sprinkle your choice of crushed Oreos, crushed pretzels, rainbow sprinkles, or M&M’s on top while the drizzle is still wet. Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator for about 5 minutes until the caramel and white chocolate are set. Serve immediately or store chilled.
Notes
- You can substitute coconut oil with butter or another neutral oil if preferred.
- Choose firm, crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
- Make sure the chocolate is fully set before drizzling with caramel and white chocolate to avoid blending flavors.
- Store the apple pops in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for best freshness.
- Feel free to customize toppings based on preference or availability.
