Description

Sausage Cream Cheese Bites are savory, bite-sized appetizers made with seasoned breakfast sausage and cream cheese wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough. Perfect for parties, breakfast, or snack time, these golden bites are easy to make and can be customized with cheddar cheese or additional seasonings.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage Mixture

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Dough & Topping

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Cook the sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small crumbles as it cooks. Once done, remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Mix the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is evenly blended and creamy.
  4. Prepare the dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and separate it into individual triangles as per package instructions.
  5. Assemble the bites: Spoon a portion of the sausage and cream cheese mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. If desired, sprinkle a little shredded cheddar cheese over the filling.
  6. Roll up the bites: Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle towards the tip to form small crescent-shaped bites. Place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake: Bake the bites in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and serve the sausage cream cheese bites warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Add finely chopped green onions or jalapeños to the filling to enhance the flavor with a fresh or spicy kick.
  • Prepare the bites ahead of time and refrigerate; bake just before serving for convenience.
  • These bites freeze well before baking; when baking from frozen, add a few extra minutes to the cook time to ensure they cook through.
