Scale
Base Ingredients
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Topping Ingredients
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions
- Prepare the baking dish: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, ensuring an overhang on the sides to allow easy removal of the bars later.
- Make the peanut butter base: In a large bowl, combine 1 cup creamy peanut butter, 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs, and 1 cup powdered sugar. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
- Form the base layer: Press the peanut butter mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create a solid base layer for the bars.
- Make the chocolate topping: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter. Heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring well after each until completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt them using a double boiler on the stovetop.
- Top the bars: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the base layer in the baking dish. Spread it evenly using a spatula to cover the entire surface.
- Chill: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and allow the bars to chill for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate topping is firm and the bars are fully set.
- Serve: Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the set bars out of the dish. Cut into squares or rectangles as desired and enjoy your no-bake peanut butter bars.
Notes
- Make sure to press the base mixture firmly to avoid crumbly bars.
- Microwave in short intervals to prevent burning the chocolate.
- Keep the bars refrigerated if not serving immediately to maintain firmness.
- For a crunchier texture, add chopped peanuts to the base mixture.
- Substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
