Description

Mini meat patties perfectly seasoned and pan-fried until golden, served alongside crispy pan-fried potatoes seasoned with paprika and garnished with fresh parsley. This European-inspired skillet meal is a comforting and satisfying dinner option that’s simple to prepare and loved by all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Meat Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef or pork (or a mix)
  • 1 small onion (grated or finely chopped)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter for cooking

For the Pan-Fried Potatoes:

  • 4 medium potatoes (peeled and cut into small cubes)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, grated or finely chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until all ingredients are well combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the patties tender.
  2. Shape the Patties: Form the mixture into small, flattened patties approximately 2 inches in diameter for even cooking and easy serving.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties in batches for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked through and have a nice golden-brown crust. Remove patties from the skillet and keep warm.
  4. Prepare the Potatoes: In the same or separate large skillet, heat oil or butter over medium-high heat. Add the peeled and diced potatoes in a single layer to ensure crispiness. Cook for about 15 to 18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside while tender on the inside.
  5. Season the Potatoes: Sprinkle the potatoes with paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir to coat evenly and cook for another minute to blend flavors.
  6. Serve: Plate the mini meat patties alongside the pan-fried potatoes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired for a fresh, colorful touch. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For added nutrition and flavor, incorporate grated carrot or finely chopped spinach into the meat mixture.
  • These mini patties are versatile and work well in lunchboxes or as slider fillings.
  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs to make this dish suitable for gluten-free diets.
