Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 15 ounces mini marshmallows
- 8-9 cups Fruity Pebbles cereal
Instructions
- Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter until fully liquefied. Add all but 1 cup of the mini marshmallows to the saucepan and stir constantly until they are completely melted and combined with the butter.
- Add Remaining Marshmallows: Stir in the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows. Continue stirring for a few seconds until the marshmallows just start melting and are combined, then immediately remove the saucepan from heat to prevent burning.
- Add Vanilla: Mix the vanilla extract into the melted marshmallow mixture thoroughly, ensuring an even flavor distribution.
- Combine with Cereal: Pour the Fruity Pebbles cereal into the marshmallow mixture. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently fold and mix until every piece of cereal is fully coated with the sticky marshmallow mixture.
- Press into Pan: Transfer the cereal mixture into a greased 9×13 inch pan. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan to create a compact layer. Avoid pressing too hard to keep the treats airy.
- Cool and Serve: Let the treats cool completely at room temperature until firm, which usually takes about 30-60 minutes. Once set, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For easier mixing, grease your spatula or hands with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Use a greased pan to help lift the treats out easily once cooled.
- You can substitute Fruity Pebbles with other puffed rice cereals if preferred.
- Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best freshness.
- To speed up cooling, you can refrigerate the pan but be aware this might make the treats firmer.
