Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 3 to 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste (optional)
Gravy
- 1 (10.5-oz) can Unsalted Cream of Chicken Soup
- 2 (0.87-oz) envelopes chicken gravy mix
- 1/2 cup water or chicken broth (optional)
To Serve
- Hot steamed rice, as needed
Instructions
- Prepare Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker and, if desired, season them lightly with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
- Make Gravy Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix packets, and water or chicken broth if you’re using it to thin the gravy slightly.
- Cook: Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken in the crockpot. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, allowing the chicken to become tender and the flavors to meld.
- Finish and Serve: Just before serving, shred or break the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces using two forks. Spoon the chicken and gravy over hot steamed rice for a complete meal.
Notes
- For added flavor, sauté the chicken breasts briefly before adding to the crockpot.
- You can substitute chicken broth for water to enrich the gravy’s taste.
- Make sure not to overcook; chicken breasts can dry out if cooked longer than 6 hours on LOW.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat well.
