Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 lb pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
Garlic Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Cheese & Seasonings
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt, to taste
Serving
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangular shape for even breadstick sizes.
- Prepare Garlic Oil: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil and minced garlic to create a flavorful garlic-infused oil.
- Brush Dough: Evenly brush the garlic olive oil mixture over the dough’s entire surface to infuse the breadsticks with garlic flavor.
- Add Cheese & Seasonings: Sprinkle grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, dried oregano, garlic powder, and salt evenly over the dough to build layers of flavor.
- Cut Strips: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips of your preferred width—typically about 1 inch wide.
- Twist Breadsticks: Twist each dough strip gently and place them spaced out on the prepared baking sheet to allow for even cooking.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve the warm cheesy breadsticks with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle a little red pepper flakes on top before baking for a spicy kick.
- If you don’t have pizza dough, you can use refrigerated biscuit dough, though texture will vary.
- Brush extra garlic olive oil on the breadsticks right after baking for a stronger garlic taste.
- To make ahead, prepare the twisted strips but freeze them on the baking sheet, then bake directly from frozen adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
- Use fresh mozzarella for a softer, creamier texture or pre-shredded for convenience.
