Description

These Cheesy Breadsticks are a delicious and easy-to-make snack perfect for any occasion. Made with simple ingredients like pizza dough, garlic-infused olive oil, and a cheesy blend of Parmesan and mozzarella, they come out crispy, golden, and full of flavor. Serve them warm with marinara sauce for a crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 lb pizza dough, homemade or store-bought

Garlic Olive Oil

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Cheese & Seasonings

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste

Serving

  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangular shape for even breadstick sizes.
  3. Prepare Garlic Oil: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil and minced garlic to create a flavorful garlic-infused oil.
  4. Brush Dough: Evenly brush the garlic olive oil mixture over the dough’s entire surface to infuse the breadsticks with garlic flavor.
  5. Add Cheese & Seasonings: Sprinkle grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, dried oregano, garlic powder, and salt evenly over the dough to build layers of flavor.
  6. Cut Strips: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips of your preferred width—typically about 1 inch wide.
  7. Twist Breadsticks: Twist each dough strip gently and place them spaced out on the prepared baking sheet to allow for even cooking.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and serve the warm cheesy breadsticks with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle a little red pepper flakes on top before baking for a spicy kick.
  • If you don’t have pizza dough, you can use refrigerated biscuit dough, though texture will vary.
  • Brush extra garlic olive oil on the breadsticks right after baking for a stronger garlic taste.
  • To make ahead, prepare the twisted strips but freeze them on the baking sheet, then bake directly from frozen adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for a softer, creamier texture or pre-shredded for convenience.
