Description

A delicious Italian-inspired main course featuring chicken breasts stuffed with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil, seared to golden perfection, then baked to juicy tenderness and drizzled with balsamic glaze for a flavorful finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Stuffing

  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves

Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the chicken after searing.
  2. Prepare Chicken Pockets: Carefully cut a horizontal pocket into each chicken breast without cutting all the way through, creating space for the stuffing.
  3. Season Chicken: Season both sides of each chicken breast with the salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning to enhance flavor.
  4. Stuff Chicken Breasts: Place slices of mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil leaves inside each chicken pocket. Use toothpicks to secure the opening if necessary.
  5. Sear Chicken: Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds to release aroma. Add the stuffed chicken breasts and sear each side for 3–4 minutes until golden brown, locking in juices.
  6. Bake Stuffed Chicken: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15–18 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted inside.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove toothpicks, drizzle the baked chicken breasts with balsamic glaze, and serve warm for a flavorful meal.

Notes

  • Pair this dish with roasted vegetables, pasta, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • For an extra flavor boost, marinate the chicken in olive oil and balsamic vinegar before stuffing.
