Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough
- 6 cups water
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash)
- Coarse salt for topping
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- Optional: cheese sauce or mustard for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dough: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut each biscuit into quarters and roll each quarter into a small ball.
- Boil Dough Balls: In a large saucepan, bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Carefully add 1/4 cup baking soda – it will foam up. Working in batches, boil the dough balls for 30 seconds each, then remove them with a slotted spoon and place directly on the prepared baking sheet.
- Apply Egg Wash and Salt: Brush each pretzel bite with the egg wash (beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water) and sprinkle coarse salt evenly over the top.
- Bake Pretzel Bites: Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes or until the pretzel bites turn deep golden brown.
- Finish with Butter: Remove the pretzel bites from the oven and immediately brush them with 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter to add richness and shine.
- Serve: Serve the warm pretzel bites with your choice of dipping sauces such as cheese sauce or mustard.
Notes
- For extra flavor, toss the baked pretzel bites in garlic butter or sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- You can cook these pretzel bites in an air fryer at 375°F for 8–10 minutes as an alternative method.
- Be careful when adding baking soda to boiling water as it will foam aggressively.
- Use parchment paper on the baking sheet to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
