Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Base
- 1 box (16 oz) Betty Crockerâ„¢ Delights Supreme Original Brownie Mix
- Water, vegetable oil, and eggs called for on brownie mix box for cakelike brownies
- Shortening or cooking spray for greasing pan
Decoration
- 15 craft sticks (flat wooden sticks with rounded ends)
- 1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons shortening
- Assorted Betty Crockerâ„¢ Decorating Decors candy sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the Brownies: Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Line a 9-inch square pan with foil, leaving some overhang. Grease the foil with shortening or cooking spray. Make the brownie batter as directed on the box for cakelike brownies. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake as instructed. Cool the brownies completely on a cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours.
- Freeze and Cut: Place the cooled brownies in the freezer for 30 minutes. Use the foil overhang to lift the brownies from the pan and peel foil away. Cut the slab into 15 rectangular brownies arranged in 5 rows by 3 rows. Carefully insert a craft stick into one end of each brownie. Arrange brownies on a large cookie sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes to firm up.
- Dip in Chocolate and Decorate: In a small microwavable bowl, microwave the semisweet chocolate chips and 2 teaspoons shortening uncovered on High for about 1 minute. Stir until smooth, microwaving in additional 5-second increments if needed. Dip the top one-third to half of each brownie on a stick into the melted chocolate. Immediately sprinkle with assorted candy decorations. Lay the brownies flat on waxed paper or foil and allow the chocolate to set at room temperature, about 1 hour.
Notes
- Ensure brownies are completely cooled and chilled before dipping to prevent melting.
- You can substitute any chocolate of your choice, but semisweet works best for balance.
- Let the chocolate set in a cool, dry place to avoid smudging.
- Craft sticks can be found in baking supply or craft stores.
- Use foil or wax paper to easily remove brownies after dipping.
